Good energy has arrived in Maungaturoto.
Twin Ridges has joined the SUPA network as a community energy hub, using the scale of their commercial rooftop to generate and share clean, local power. The site connected with SUPA through one of our email campaigns, and once we saw the size and potential of the building, it was clear it could support something bigger than a standard solar install.
The system now in place includes 80kW of rooftop solar paired with 57.6kWh of battery storage. In its first year alone, it’s forecast to generate close to 100,000kWh of clean electricity. That’s energy produced locally, used locally, and stored to help reduce reliance on the grid when it matters most.
Twin Ridges isn’t a farm. They own the building, lease space to other businesses, and also operate companies including Sober Check and Vaico. By becoming a community hub, they’ve gone beyond meeting their own energy needs and created the foundation for others to benefit as well.
There are already five community energy users connected under the Twin Ridges hub, sharing in the value of locally generated solar power. It’s a practical, working example of how shared energy can support businesses, lower costs, and build resilience across communities without waiting for large-scale infrastructure changes.
This is the SUPA model in action. Identify the right sites. Unlock local generation. Share the benefits. One hub at a time, we’re helping communities take control of their energy future.
